Advanced Systems
Technology Products
Protocol's own cameras, sensors, lidar, and security equipment.
Overview
What this covers.
Technology Products covers hardware of Protocol's own design, including cameras, sensors, lidar, and other security equipment. Most security hardware is bought separately and connected afterward, which leaves gaps between what a device can see and what the rest of a program knows. Protocol's approach is to design hardware alongside its software, from individual components to the way a device reports into the rest of a program, including how it shows that it has stopped working.
Open questions
What is being worked through.
01
What would a camera or sensor designed for a connected environment do differently from one bought off the shelf?
02
Where does lidar add information that cameras and access systems do not?
03
Which components are worth designing, and which are better sourced?
04
How should a device show that it has stopped working, rather than simply going quiet?
